gnome-mpv software package provides simple GTK+ frontend for mpv, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gnome-mpv
gnome-mpv is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gnome-mpv package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gnome-mpv *
You will get with gnome-mpv package name, version, architecture and description in a table
